Friends of Maungawhau Inc.

Who we are

Friends of Maungawhau (FoM) is an active group of citizens formed in the 1980s to protect, preserve and enhance Auckland's volcanic heritage.

What we do

•   FoM volunteers work every Tuesday morning, weeding and encouraging native regeneration on the damaged slopes of Maungawhau/Mt Eden.

•   We campaign and engage with authorities for better care of the mountain.

•   We raise public awareness of the heritage value of the volcanic cones. Our signature annual event "Love Your Mountain Day", a car-free open day on Maungawhau, has been held since 2006.
